Prizes are a tremendous incentive for scientific and artistic achievements. And as such, they have become indispensable to the world of science and art. However, a civil service law prohibition, which generally applies to cash in the Administrative Regulation of Civil Service Regulations (BeamtVwV), would significantly diminish the value and impact of prizes, or even nullify them altogether. This was not the intention of the Ministry of the Interior when it issued the BeamtVwV, so the Ministry of Science, Research, and the Arts considers an exception for prize money to be appropriate. Though, this is subject to the condition that any impairment or influence on the performance of official duties and any impression of bias are ruled out. Approval for the acceptance of prize money can therefore be granted if the examination of the following questions is positive or unproblematic.
If the prize money is to be received as third-party funding, please send a third-party funding notification to the Research Department instead of this form.
Please submit the completed form at least one week before the award ceremony, if possible.
Note: The prize money may be subject to income tax/social security contributions.
