STMM membership is intended for anyone interested in using the STMM course and training offer. The STMM offer is tailored towards early career researchers.
The following 3 groups do not need to apply for membership:

Dr. sc. hum. and Dr. med. doctoral candidates whose doctoral project is accepted at the Med. Fac. Mannheim ("Promotionsantrag angenommen")

Postdocs and Clinican Scientists of the ICON funding programme

Master students of the TMR and BME programmes
The following groups are typical cases where membership application is relevant:
- You are already in Mannheim doing research towards your doctorate, but for x reasons, your project will take a while to be accepted (e.g. foreign diplomas need checking, funding is not yet available, etc.). While you wait for acceptance, you would like to take part in STMM activities and track your activities on LEARN.
- You are doing your doctoral research in Mannheim but you are affiliated with a different faculty or program. You would like to take part in the local course offer. Examples: Dr. rer. nats from HBIGS, visiting doctoral students from other universities. etc.
- You are a postdoc in a laboratory of the UMM/MedMA but not funded through an ICON fellowship (this applies to most postdocs). You would like to use the STMM training offer.
